We held a thrilling Formula 1-style race night in central Tokyo on November 15th, bringing together racing enthusiasts and philanthropists to support the work of REI.

Hosted at the offices of GLP Inc., the event featured a heated gaming tournament, where six teams competed on high-tech simulators provided by Excape. The funds raised will go directly to support our impactful projects for displaced persons, including in Myanmar and Kenya.

The race night was not only a competitive event but also a heartwarming opportunity to give back. Participants raced around the challenging nine-corner Oulton Park Fosters Circuit, covering a total distance of 2,656 kilometers. The atmosphere was electric as six teams battled it out for the top spot. Commentary for the event was provided by StuartO, whose energetic and fun observations added an extra layer of excitement to the evening, keeping both participants and spectators on the edge of their seats.

The race was hotly contested, with every team putting in their best effort to navigate the track and secure victory. In the end, team OK on Golf emerged victorious, with High Flyers taking second place and GLP Beasts securing third.

The funds raised on the night will have a direct impact on refugee projects. With just ¥1,500, a baby kit can be provided to a mother in Karen state, Myanmar, saving newborns from poor nutrition or infection. Meanwhile, ¥30,000 yen can sponsor a vocational training course for a young entrepreneur in Kenya, fostering job creation and empowering communities.

As the event concluded, everyone was filled with a sense of accomplishment, knowing that their participation would help make a tangible difference in the lives of displaced people. Both organizers and participants are already looking forward to next year’s race, eager to continue supporting REI’s vital work. The night proved that a combination of fun and philanthropy could truly accelerate positive change.
