Giving December

Giving December is an initiative that encourages people in Japan to think about the future of society.  According to the official Giving December Japan campaign, roughly 70% of people wish to make a contribution to society. The campaign designates December as the month of giving in Japan.

This year, REI is once again partnering with Eat For for Giving December.

Eat For is a food truck that launched in 2019 with the mission to prevent food loss by connecting with farmers and creating menus using produce that are perfectly delicious yet can’t be sold commercially because of size or shape.

Eat For supports the UN Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs). Through its commitment to fair trade, the use of non-animal tested products and fresh local produce, the business contributes to 8 of the 17 SDGs. Eat For’s contributions towards community building and sustainable practices align with the REI mission and with the spirit of Giving December.

Together, Eat For and REI are investing in a more sustainable, compassionate future.

If you’re in the area of Kojimachi, stop by the Eat For food truck and enjoy a delicious lunch! They taste even better knowing you are supporting two organizations that make the world brighter everyday 😀
