If you have unused foreign coins or banknotes from your travels you can put them to good use!
Send your foreign coins or banknotes to REI and we’ll convert them into donations through the services of Global Coin Solutions (GCS).
Banknotes and coins of all currencies are acceptable, including past versions and commemorative coins.
There is no need to separate according to country or type.
You can send them by post or hand to staff at REI events.
If you send them by post use a registered cash envelope (Genkin Kakitome) to prevent loss or theft.
It is best to place coins in a separate bag as the weight of the coins may damage the envelope and to separate high-value coins to prevent them from being scratched.

Do not attach tape directly to coins, as this may cause damage or staining.
Place the coins and notes in the registered (Genkin Kakitome) envelope and Send to:

The coins and notes will be sent to GCS for processing and returned to REI in yen.
Please note:
– We do not issue donation receipts for foreign currency.
– Shipping costs are to be covered by sender.
