Many of you may have known us for years as RIJ (Refugee International Japan) but in 2020, we changed our name to Refugee Empowerment International (REI). We chose a name that allows us to be more inclusive in our message and the name is the message! Our mission is to empower people to take control of their lives.
In addition, the name REI allows us to develop our global network of supporters.
Of course, our administration is concentrated in Japan but many sponsors and supporters join from overseas through online platforms. The projects we support are in Africa and Southeast Asia, and our network EMPOWERs refugees to turn their lives around no matter in which part of the world they are.
So Refugee Empowerment International is about inclusivity and empowerment.
Another exciting bit of news we would like to share with you and that makes our organization even more international is the establishment of the REI office in Australia
