Ophthalmic Care to IDPs in Townships around Khartoum

This is the fourth year of funding from REI for this project. During the previous year the project conducted outreaches in twenty neighborhoods and IDPs settlements in Khartoum area and one week outreach in Kadugli hospital in the Nuba Mountains.

School Sanitation and Hygiene Improvement in Terekeka, Southern Sudan

After the 2 decades of civil war in Southern Sudan refugees and IDPs began returning home in 2005. The return of 3.7million IDPs and about 350,000 refugees continued through organized returns as well as spontaneously. UNHCR recorded 96,508 returnees to South Sudan by December 2006 and was expecting 102,000 in 2007.

Women’s Literacy Project in Darfur, Sudan (June 2008)

This project is will provide 350 women from El Fasher with the skills of reading and writing. To provide this education Together for Sudan will establish 14 literacy classes and pay the incentives of the 14 teachers on a monthly basis for nine months every year.

Bienvenu Creche Activities

The Bienvenu Shelter was established in 2001 in a suburb of Johannesburg as a refuge for women and children refugees. The shelter provides accommodation and nutrition support while providing them with skills to prepare them for eventual return to their countries.

Children’s Mobile Activity Centre, Lebanon

This project addressed the psycho-social and developmental needs of children exposed to trauma during the war and the recent fighting in Nahr Al Bared Camp between Fateh Al Islam and the Lebanese army.
